Split anode calorimetry for plasma arc energy density measurement with laser calibration

چکیده

A split anode calorimeter (SAC) has been developed for the measurement of plasma transferred arc (PTA) energy density. novel aspect is use a laser beam with well-defined profile which was first measured using commercial diagnosis system and used to calibrate SAC. The SAC temperature data generated showed same by system. This confirmed accuracy method its suitability measuring distribution an electric if provided stably. PTA observed be distorting when crossing over interface corrected moving ground wire from side centre anode. Detailed analysis 130A density profiles both current that narrower than profile. indicates effective wider width column due other transfer processes such as convection radiation. absorption matched well Gaussian model radius 7 mm. rate copper plate found about 56%.

Effect of Arc-anode Attachment on Thermal Plasma Jet

An interaction of plasma flow with an arc-anode attachment in a dc arc plasma torch was investigated. Statistical processing of the photographic images of plasma jet was used for analysis of an effect of the anode attachment on structure and stability of plasma flow. Deflection, flattening and flutter of the plasma jet was found to be caused by disturbing effect of the arc-anode attachment.

Calibration and monitoring for crystal calorimetry

Crystal calorimetry provides excellent energy resolution in high energy and nuclear physics. The light output of heavy crystal scintillators, however, suffers from not negligible damage in radiation environment. A precision calibration and monitoring thus is crucial for maintaining crystal precision in situ. The performance of calibration and monitoring approaches used by BaBar, CLEO and L3 exp...

High-energy ion generation in interaction of short laser pulse with high-density plasma

Multi-MeV ion production from the interaction of a short laser pulse with a high-density plasma, accompanied by an underdense preplasma, has been studied with a particle-in-cell simulation and good agreement is found with experiment. The mechanism primarily responsible for the acceleration of ions is identified. Comparison with experiments sheds light on the ion-energy dependence on laser inten...

Laser plasma density measurements using interferometry

Fabrication of an interferometer is planned at the UCSD Laser Plasma and Laser-Matter Interactions Laboratory. The primary goal of this project is to measure the density at early times in the evolution of highly transient laser created plasmas. We describe the design concepts and details of different kinds of interferometer for measuring density evolution, especially during early time of plasma...

Effects of laser induced metal vapour on arc plasma during laser arc double sided welding of 5A06 aluminium alloy

In order to study the effects of laser induced metal vapour on arc plasma during laser arc double sided welding (LADSW), emission spectroscopy techniques were utilised. The arc plasma in LADSW of 5A06 aluminium alloy was compared with conventional gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) in this work. The electron temperature and density were estimated by the Saha– Boltzmann equation and the Stark broad...
